surface every time I wonder about sustainable farming and animal
welfare. The concept of in-vitro meat - meat cultured from animal stem
cells. The idea is to reduce the carbon footprint (livestock production
amounts to 18% or so in terms of global warming effects) along with the
required amount of grassland required to sustain a herd etc etc.
There appears to be an increasing amount of research into this sort of
thing. I wonder if this would appeal to vegetarians??
The reality is that if an animal is not required within our food chain,
they will not be produced so heavily because they cost money to house
and feed. So one way or another, the planet is going to change...
