nameless quoted in memo to Government

Not only do we like to talk about all things web, we now talk politics too. In the local Bristol rag nameless are quoted in a memo to the Chancellor about new legislations that are set to burden small- and medium-sized businesses in the region.

Standing on her soap box Jaya is quoted saying: "The Government is making all the right noises about the creative sector but there seems to be no joined-up thinking."

"Last November's changes to corporation tax have done us no favours at all and it is the same with capital gains tax. It is difficult enough to attract good staff but it is even harder to keep them without attractive share incentive schemes."

"We are not planning to stop what we are currently doing but it is making things a lot harder for us."

Don't mince your words now...

in vitro meat, anybody?

This is not something I think about too often but it does seem to
surface every time I wonder about sustainable farming and animal
welfare. The concept of in-vitro meat - meat cultured from animal stem
cells. The idea is to reduce the carbon footprint (livestock production
amounts to 18% or so in terms of global warming effects) along with the
required amount of grassland required to sustain a herd etc etc.

There appears to be an increasing amount of research into this sort of
thing. I wonder if this would appeal to vegetarians??

The reality is that if an animal is not required within our food chain,
they will not be produced so heavily because they cost money to house
and feed. So one way or another, the planet is going to change...
